English language schools in London, UK
True passion, for me, lies in the world of language learning. I love the idea of people connecting through language. This is why language industry is such a great fit for me. Immediately after graduating from university, I moved to Japan to teach English. I realized then that helping people to learn a language was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I wanted to allow people the opportunity to connect with others from around the world. After two years, I left Japan and returned to my hometown of Vancouver, Canada where I continued teaching. I then moved to Massachusetts and started teaching at Back Bay School before moving to California where I obtained an administrative role at La Jolla School.

Being Center Director of Santa Monica School is a dream come true for me, because it is yet another chance for me to provide an ideal environment for people from all over the world to come together and connect in English. Students will receive the high quality English classes that our school is known for. They will be given endless opportunities to practice and use their English with their classmates and the locals.

I cannot think of a better location for Los Angeles School than Santa Monica. This destination is so full of the life and beauty that one would expect from a beach city in Southern California. Students will have access to the famous delights of the surrounding area. White sandy beaches and a Mecca of trendy shops and restaurants are within walking distance. Hollywood, the movie capital of the world, is just a short ride away. A wealth of culture and entertainment is at your fingertips, and I look forward to sharing this California dream with you.

After graduating from University, I started teaching at St. Julan’s School of English in Malta where I developed an appreciation for human interaction and for the freedom, creativity and spontaneity inherent in the job. Since then I’ve become part of a strong academic team which has never ceased to grow and develop. My roles have included teaching, teacher training and managing the Academic Year Programme for long term students, all of which I thoroughly enjoy to this very day.

At Santa Monica School our main aim is to provide an authentic learning experience to help students draw on prior learning, acquire new knowledge, and tap into their creativity to further develop this knowledge. As a teacher, one does not only impart knowledge, but also part of oneself. In this way, teaching has also given me the chance to share my passion not only for language, but also for literature, poetry, drama and music which I’ve always tried to integrate in my lessons in order to provide students with a more holistic and fun education. Ultimately, being a teacher with Santa Monica School is all about sharing knowledge, facilitating learning for others and loving what you do!

I am now thrilled to be heading the new academic team of Santa Monica School as this is the ideal opportunity for me to embrace cultural diversity and to create eager, motivated and responsible learners in the fantastic City of Angels.

My experience at Santa Monica School was just great, interesting, and very fun. I learned a lot and it was awesome! My best memory was the skydiving activity. It was exciting and unreal, like in another world. It was awesome. The level was good. I learned a lot. I could use my English skills and I got better in three weeks. My class was great and the teachers were great! To prospective students: You should come to Santa Monica School because of the location. The location is great! The school is new and everything is clean and perfect. Santa Monica is beautiful and the staff is AWESOME! I am going to miss my time here.

California is just great! In the first week, we saw many things and had great experiences. The landscape is wonderful here, I especially love the sea. The school is very interesting and our class was very small (only 5 students) but I liked it. Our teachers were very friendly and easygoing. My host mum and dad were so nice, that I felt very comfortable at home. I have a very big closet and a bed and I share the bathroom with a Korean girl, who is a student at Santa Monica College. We only have school until 12.15, so in the afternoon we have a lot of time to go shopping, lay on the beach and drive around the city and countryside. One evening, we drove to an Outlet store and it was great there. We went iFlying at Universal Studios in Hollywood as a school activity. It was great, but not better than my amazing experience on when we actually went Skydiving! I’ve never done anything better than this, it was just amazing! We jumped out of a plane, which was 12’500 feet high (3’800 meters). I would like to do it again! Exploring LA is amazing!
