Welcome to Miami!

I've always loved different languages and cultures, and it's that love that naturally drew me to the language industry. Originally from Chicago, I spent my first year after college abroad working in Paris. One year in France wasn't enough, and shortly after returning to the US, I again packed my bags and went to Tokyo to teach English for a year. I stayed in Japan for nearly four years, after falling in love with the culture, language, and of course, teaching. I remained in the language industry after returning to the US, this time in Los Angeles.

Before coming to Miami I worked as School Director for several language centers around the Los Angeles area. For me, working as a School Director truly is the best of all worlds! My time abroad was life-changing. I met some of my best friends to this day, and have memories to last a lifetime. Learning about the world taught me worlds about myself, and nothing makes me happier than doing everything possible to make sure my students leave the school with a similar experience!

Miami is not my hometown, but I have quickly grown to love the energy and excitement of the city and all that it has to offer. There is always something to see or do in Miami, and I am very excited that our School is right in the middle of it all! Surrounded by cafes, restaurants and shops, and with the beach only a short walk away, this really is a tropical paradise! Join us in Miami for the high standard of education, combined with all the glamorous sun & fun you expect from Miami South Beach!

Having grown up in international environments with friends from all over the world, I learned the importance of studying languages. Although I was born in Baltimore, my father’s job moved our family to England and Belgium. While in college, I expanded my exploration of the world by traveling, studying, and volunteering abroad in Peru and England. I discovered my passion for teaching English in Peru and decided to pursue a degree in T.E.S.O.L. While studying, I worked in different areas of ESL and spent time teaching students ranging from children to adults, high-level to illiterate. I also worked for Back Bay School in Boston at that time and I quickly realized the importance of unique, personalized attention to students when teaching foreign language. After completing my degree, I worked in Korea as a visiting English professor at a science and technology university. Korea was a fantastic opportunity that gave me the chance to see many new parts of the world and teach some incredibly dedicated students. After a year in Korea, I moved to Miami and was delighted to start working at Lincoln School.

Although I am not originally from Miami, I already know that it is culturally and socially diverse and it truly has something for everyone. When I’m not teaching, I love to travel around Florida and beyond, and I’m always eager to hear about new places and potential future adventures from my students. The classroom is a fantastic place for learning opportunities for both me and the students; they teach me about their cultures as I teach them English. I’m always happiest when I’m interacting with students, helping them improve their English skills, and learning more about the world from their perspectives.

I had a really great time in Miami Beach! My apartment was perfectly located near the beach and in walking distance to the school. So I think we are very lucky to have chosen this destination and I would definitely recommend the school and the accommodation to my friends!

I chose Lincoln School because I wanted to see the USA for the first time. Now I can speak English a lot better than when I arrived. I have improved my vocabulary and speech. My favourite activity here was the pronunciation clinic. I loved the way that Rodrigo and Mark taught me. My accommodation at Hotel 18 was great, with a very good staff. My new friends from Lincoln School are from Switzerland, Russia and France. My favourite social leaders are Elisa and Nicoletta. Lincoln School provided a great experience for me and I will remember it for the rest of my life. Good teachers, great schoolmates, and friendly staff. I really enjoyed this experience and I would like to say thank you to everybody!
